The MDARC radio equipment Lending Library (policies) is primarily intended to allow newly licensed or inactive hams to get on the air and gain experience with an HF or VHF radio without first having to buy one. Having some practical experience operating a radio in a home environment should allow the borrower to make a better-informed decision when it comes time to purchase a radio and the accessories needed to set up an effective station.
Borrowers must be members of the Mount Diablo Amateur Radio Club and must hold a valid FCC amateur radio license.
Borrowers agree to limit their usage of the borrowed equipment to the frequencies and modes authorized for their class of FCC license.
The normal duration of an equipment loan will not exceed 30 days. However, the loan period may be extended up to an additional two weeks at the discretion of the lending library coordinator.
